ika, de su verdadero nombre Mica Penniman, nació el 18 de agosto de 1983 en Beirut (el Líbano) de una madre libanesa y de un padre americano. Entonces que es aún muy joven su familia se instala en París luego en Londres donde va a estudiar y descubrirse una pasión para la música. Aceptado al Real Órgano colegiado Of Music, deja a esta escuela poco de tiempo más tarde para lanzarse en solo. Su voz sublime, que algunos comparan a la de Freddie Mercury, el hecho observar rápidamente y Mika se vuela para Los Angeles para registrar su primer álbum al final del año 2006. Plebiscitado tanto para la su física como para sus músicas frescas y dinámicos, Mika aporta con "LIFE en Dibujo animado Moción" (sacó a principios de 2007) un renacimiento al POP música inglesa..

Bienvenido

Nació en Beirut, capital del Líbano. Su nombre verdadero es Michael Holbrook Penniman Ismaili. Son cinco hermanos, de madre libanesa y padre estadounidense. Huyendo de la guerra del Líbano pasó con su familia por diferentes lugares (París) antes de establecerse en Londres a la edad de nueve años, al mismo tiempo que descubrieron que Mika sufría de dislexia. Más tarde, a Mika, se le contrató una profesora rusa de ópera para que le enseñara canto, lo que hizo que a los 15 años ya cantara como tenor. Se matriculó en la London School of Economics para estudiar economia y política pero dos semanas después ya estaba estudiando música en el Royal College of Music.

Antes de triunfar como cantante pop, Mika fue cantante de ópera, escribió música funcional para la aerolínea British Airways y compuso jingles publicitarios.

En el 2007 firmó un contrato con el reactivado sello de música disco de los setenta Casablanca Records y cuyo álbum debut, Life in cartoon motion, se edita bajo el sello de Island Records UK (Universal). Su primer álbum fue número uno en Inglaterra y va camino de serlo en muchos otros países. En abril de 2007 empieza a planear sus giras. Es el artista más prometedor del año según la encuesta anual que realiza la BBC entre más de 130 profesionales independientes del mundo de la música y los medios de comunicación británicos. En el Top 10 de esa encuesta, que suele ser bastante certera, están algunos de los grupos y músicos que tienen más posibilidades de triunfar y dar que hablar en el 2007 como Klaxons, The Twang, Air Traffic, Cold War Kids, Ghosts o The Rumble Strips.Segun se cuenta su tema Grace Kelly fue impulsado por la prensa debido a las intensas criticas por su parecido a Freddie Mercury en su voz, entonces él decidio sacar un tema donde habla de que "podria ser cualquier cosa que quieras" refiriendose a los comentarios de su parecido con distintos artistas.

Mika declara que ha crecido escuchando de todo, desde Queen, Freddie Mercury, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Serge Gainsbourg, Édith Piaf, The Beatles, hasta flamenco y que admira a los grandes compositores como Wagner, Harry Nilsson, Prince o Elton John.

La banda de Mika está formada además por Martin Waugh (Guitarra, Coro), Michael Choi (Bajo, Coro), Cherisse Osei (Batería) y Luke Juby (Teclado).

En Enero de 2008, Mika, Take That y Leona Lewis encabezaron las nominaciones a los premios Brit Awards de la música británica, que se entregaron en una gala el 20 de febrero. El artista libanes solo fue premiado como el mejor artista revelación en directo (British Breakthrough Act).
